The Front Porch March 10, 2022

I served as a youth director while in college. It was on-the-job training since I had never been a part of a youth group growing up and I had never worked with young teenagers. I remember trying to lead the kids in a bible study one night and inviting them to share one of their favorite biblical texts. This 14 year-old boy started reading from the Song of Solomon with a big grin on his face, especially when he got to the part describing the beauty of the maiden’s breasts. The rest of the kids started giggling. I suspect I was blushing. I couldn’t believe such sensual poetry was in the bible!
