Brian has served as the pastor of Pacific Beach Christian Church since 1994. Prior to coming to San Diego he served as the Associate Pastor at the Church of the Valley in the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles. He received his Master of Divinity degree from the Claremont School of Theology in 1991 and his B.A. in Sociology from UCLA in 1987.
Brian grew up in the Catholic Church and attended Catholic schools through high school. He began attending a Disciples of Christ congregation while in high school and was impressed with the loving, supportive and open spirit present in the congregation. He values the diversity within the Disciples of Christ and appreciates our efforts to work toward unity within the body of Christ. Brian is married with three sons and has valued living and doing ministry in the same community where he is raising a family.
Rip has served as the Associate Pastor of Pacific Beach Christian Church since June of 2019. Prior to coming to San Diego, he served as the Service Pastor at Middletown Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. He received his Master of Divinity degree from the Claremont School of Theology in 2019.
Rip is bi-vocational and serves on several Boards of not-for-profit organizations in San Diego. He also serves on the Board of the Pacific Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Prior to becoming an Ordained Minister, he served as Board Moderator, Elder, Deacon and other Committee assignments. He values the diversity within the Disciples of Christ and appreciates our efforts to work toward unity within the body of Christ. Rip is married with one son, one daughter and six grandkids.
Jeff & Aurora Bishop
Jeff and Aurora Bishop have been leading worship at Pacific Beach Christian Church since early 2010. They came to PBCC with years of experience in leading worship along with professional solo and combo performance careers in varied styles and venues. The music at PBCC incorporates a wide range of traditional and modern worship, presented from a band format.
Their main focus is leading participatory worship by presenting live music arranged specifically for the local congregation and volunteer PB Praise Band and Singers.
Janice is a Pacific Beach native. She was educated in the local school system and attended UCSD and SDSU. She worked as an elementary school teacher until her 2 sons were born. She has attended PBCC since 1995. In the early years she taught Sunday school. She participates in the Fishes and Loaves Ministry, serves as a Deacon, oversees the care of our Prayer Garden, and has been involved with the Heavenly Manna ministry. Janice loves her staff position as Office Administrator because she believes in the ministries, missions, leadership and “Open Wide Your Heart” philosophy at PBCC. She loves her church family, serving them and serving others in the wider community.
