Recovery in Christ is a Christ-centered 12-step meeting for those seeking support, fellowship, encouragement and hope in breaking the bonds of alcoholism and addiction that have made life unmanageable and painful. We claim as our higher power God as revealed in Jesus Christ and believe his words can become reality in our lives:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 NRSV

We believe that at the point we give up the fight and completely surrender our will by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God’s love and grace begin to transform our hearts and lives. We also believe this surrendering of our will must take place each and every day. We believe that the 12 Steps first used in Alcoholics Anonymous have been used by God as invaluable tools in our recovery. Recovery in Christ does not seek to replace or diminish the value of other 12-step meetings in our community. Our goal is simply to provide an additional meeting where faith in Christ can be discussed honestly and openly and where prayer for one another is welcomed and encouraged.

Recovery in Christ is non-denominational and welcoming of those from various churches and traditions. We also welcome those from no religious background or tradition. This group’s primary purpose is to restore hope and new life in the alcoholic and addict through a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. We encourage one another to be actively involved in a church and to commit ourselves daily to spiritual disciplines such as prayer, worship, reading the Bible, and service to those in need. For we believe it is in the daily practicing of our faith that our hearts and lives are truly transformed. Those who give leadership in the group are in service to God and give witness to the power of God to restore life. To God be the glory!

“Just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.”
Romans 6:4 NRSV
