“The Year of Apprenticeship”
We have designated 2012 as The Year of Apprenticeship as we commit together as a congregation to learning how to live the life Jesus described in his Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). Becoming more like Christ doesn’t just happen because we want it to…it requires training. We invite you to join us in that training this year as we work through three books together both in small groups and in our Sunday worship and preaching themes:
The Good and Beautiful God
The Good and Beautiful Life
The Good and Beautiful Community
These books were written by James Bryan Smith to help us come to know the God Jesus knew, to help us live a life that reflects Christ better, and to help us live out our faith in community. Come join us on this year-long journey of spiritual formation and growth!

This mission has created a powerful energy and focus for our church. As people rely on the Bible, we encourage sharing their questions and insights with one another. This develops a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God and with each other.
We are intentional about ministry in our community and world. We believe studying God’s word, growing together, and reaching out to others is a fulfillment of our call as disciples of Christ to Open Wide Your Hearts!
We are an inter-generational community of faith where casual attire is the norm. We have been a part of the Pacific Beach community for over 60 years and are making some important transitions to insure our ministry will remain vital and dynamic for the next 60 years.
